Generator May Damage Batteries
Damaged AGM battery caps can detach. In addition, a damaged AGM battery that is replaced with a lead-acid battery can lead to an acid spill. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of injury.

Summary
Roadtrek Inc. (Roadtrek) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Zion, Zion SRT, and Play motorhomes. The undermount generator that charges the Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) house batteries may have a faulty internal regulator, which could damage the AGM batteries and cause electrical system failure.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and if necessary, replace the undermount AGM generator, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 26, 2021. Owners may contact Roadtrek customer service at 1-888-762-3873.

RECALL: NHTSA 21V356
SUBJECT: Internal Regulator Causing Overvoltage
APPLIES TO: Roadtrek: Zion, Zion SRT and Play models
CONDITION: Faulty internal regulator that may potentially enter a stage of overvoltage exceeding 16 volts that could damage the RV mounted auxiliary AGM black capped batteries.
CORRECTION: Remove the GU splash guard from the undermounted additional alternator. Inspect the additional GU alternator to determine the colour of the Internal regulator cover.
If the cover is found to be brown, the regulator is the good one. No further action is required. Replace the splash guard and fill-out the enclosed form accordingly and return it to: [email protected]
If the additional undermounted GU is found to have an internal regulator cover that is black, send a picture of the defective alternator including the serial number to [email protected]. Roadtrek will send you a replacement alternator. Once that replacement is received, replace the defective undermounted GU alternator according to the instructions below. Once the replacement is completed, fill out the enclosed corrective action form and send it to us along with the recalled GU alternator.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1:
Disconnect the (-) negative battery terminal.
STEP 2:
Remove and retain splash guard and hardware.
STEP 3:
Release OEM drive belt let hang, with provided tensioner tool.
STEP 5:
Loosen and set aside the nuts and bolts. Remove tab to if OEM A/C hose if needed to release AGM generator.
STEP 6:
Remove spacers and nuts between the rear hanger and rear of alternator bosses.
STEP 7:
Remove wiring harness from alternator leave hanging
STEP 8:
Drop AGM generator, replace with new AGM generator provided. Torque Large (+) nut to xx ft/lbs.
STEP 9:
Re-install, OEM tab on AC system if removed Install and align drive belt.
Run system, and test output of AGM Generator expecting 13.5 (+/-) Install splash guard.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Roadtrek Inc. is recalling certain model year 2020 to 2021 Roadtrek, Zion, Zion SRT and Play vehicles manufactured from March 13, 2020, through April 30, 2021, and built on the Dodge
RAM ProMaster Chassis. An additional alternator has been installed during production to facilitate house battery charging that may have a faulty internal regulator. This faulty internal regulator may potentially enter a stage of overvoltage exceeding 16 volts possibly damaging the RV mounted auxiliary AGM batteries. It could also possibly render the electrical system inoperable requiring AGM battery and engine generator replacements. If the electrical system become inoperative, it can cause the AGM black battery caps to become unseated, and increase the risk of injury.
Corrective action requires that you take your motorhome to an authorized dealer for an inspection of the undermount AGM generator. If the undermount AGM generator is fitted with black caps, then the generator will be required to be replaced. To obtain this free service contact your authorized dealer service department and schedule an appointment which should take approximately 1 hour.
