Seat Belt Retractor May Lock/FMVSS 208 and 209
A passenger may remove their seat belt when the retractor locks, increasing the risk of injury.

Summary
Freedman Seating Company (Freedman) is recalling certain GO-ES Double Flipseat, part number 46183, and GO-ES Double Rigid Seat, part number 92585 passenger seats. The seat belt retractor may lock when the vehicle is on an incline. As such, these seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards numbers 208, “Occupant Crash Protection” and 209, “Seat Belt Assemblies.”
Remedy
Freedman will provide inspection and repair instructions, free of charge. Notification letters are expected to be mailed June 15, 2021. Owners may contact Freedman customer service at 800-443-4540.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of 49 CFR 577.13.
Freedman Seating Company (FSC) has determined the GO-ES 3-point Flipseat and the GOES 3-point Rigid Seat manufactured between April 1, 2020 through March 1, 2021 may have a defect which may result in the seat belt retractor locking up when the vehicle is on a slight incline.
Upon receipt of this Recall Notice, FSC is requesting you provide notification of this Product Recall of the subject seats to your Dealer and Customer/Owner.
To correct this condition, FSC will facilitate the inspection and any necessary repairs. A document describing the inspection can be found here:
If the seat belt retractors were found non-compliant, written and video instructions on how to do the remedy can be found in the above link.
The repair is expected to take 30 minutes per seat. FSC will reimburse the cost of repairs related to this recall. No parts should be required.
Upon completion of the recall repair work the Customer must file a claim with FSC Customer Service for reimbursement referencing FSC Recall #21E046 on the claim.

Should you have any vehicle(s) in inventory that require recall repair work please make certain these vehicles are corrected prior to sale. FMVSS 577.13 states it is a violation of Federal law for a manufacturer/dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle covered by this notification under sale or lease until the defect is remedied.
