Summary

Forest RivereBay logo, Inc. (Forest RivereBay logo) is recalling certain 2021 Columbus Fifth Wheel trailers. The legs on the Allure Swivel Dining chair may detach from the chair body.

 

Remedy

Dealers will install a hardware kit to reinforce the chair legs, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 9, 2021. Owners may contact Forest RivereBay logo customer service at 1-574-821-1487. Forest RivereBay logo’s number for this recall is 410-1342.

Disconnect the vehicles’ battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power.  Block any tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.

 

STEP 1: REMOVE THE SEATING CHAIR FROM THE CHAIR BASE AND SET ASIDE;

 

STEP 2: INSPECT THE LEGS AND HORIZONTAL PIECES TO ENSURE THEY ARE CORRECTLY CONNECTED;

 

STEP 3: SET THE MENDING PLATE ON THE CHAIR FRAME AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1. MARK THE HOLE CENTERS CAREFULLY. PRE-DRILL A PILOT HOLE THE PROPER SIZE AND DEPTH FOR THE PROPER WOOD SCREWS;

 

STEP 4: INSTALL FOUR MENDING PLATES ON THE TOP SIDE, CONNECTING THE HORIZONTAL PIECES WITH THE CHAIR LEG (FIGURE 1);

 

STEP 5: TURN THE CHAIR BASE OVER AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2;

 

STEP 6: PLACE THE 90° BRACKETS IN THE CORNERS AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2. MARK THE HOLE CENTERS

CAREFULLY. PRE-DRILL A PILOT HOLE THE PROPER SIZE AND DEPTH FOR THE PROPER WOOD SCREWS;

 

STEP 7: INSTALL FOUR 90° BRACKETS AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2, SECURING THE 90° CORNERS;

 

STEP 8: CLAIM THE REPAIR CODE.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest RivereBay logo – Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2021 Columbus Fifth Wheel recreational vehicles. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.

 

WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?

The Allure Swivel Dining Chair installed in certain vehicles may fail. There is a potential that the legs may detach from the chair body.

 

EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.

If there is an occupant in the chair and if the chair leg breaks, it could cause the occupant to fall, causing personal injury.

 

WHAT IS FOREST RIVEReBay logo AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?

Forest RivereBay logo is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest RivereBay logo dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest RivereBay logo completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.

 

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. An authorized Forest RivereBay logo Dealer or Service Center will need to perform the repairs to add a top mending plate and a bottom 90° angle installed to the four legs. This will reinforce them so there is not a potential for the legs to detach from the rest of the chair body. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed.  Please state you have been notified by Forest RivereBay logo of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership.  It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy. HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?

The estimated time of repair is .25 hours per chair.  However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.

 

WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?

If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized.

Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for within the scope of this defect under recall.
