IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE

Dear Transport Trailer Sales:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic
and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
MAC Trailer has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in
certain axles supplied by Dexter Axle Company and installed on MAC Trailer Dump
trailers built from July 2017 thru January 2020.
Your trailers in question are identified by the last 5 digits of the
VIN. You have 5 affected trailers listed below:

The defective Ingersoll Smart Steer self steer axles had no reinforcement weld on the steering
knuckle assembly, which the steering arm may detach from the steering knuckle during certain
low-speed, high-side loading maneuvers. All units sold after that time had reinforcement welds,
which corrected the issues. Units included in this recall had the 8-7/8 inch, bolt on steer arm,
with no reinforcement weld. There is a potential for pieces of attachment hardware to separate
and fall onto the road which may result in a loose projectile increasing the potential risk for a
crash. There is no loss of control of the unit when this failure occurs. The inspection and repair
process should take no more than 3 hours minutes per suspension to complete. There will be no charge
to you for this inspection or repair.
To make arrangements to have your Dexter/IMT axles inspected and repaired as
necessary or for general questions related to this letter, please contact Dexter Axle
Company and reference their recall report 21E-019.
If you are no longer the owner of this vehicle please forward the new owner

If you are the lessor of this vehicle, please forward a copy of this notice to the lessee
within ten days to comply with federal regulations.
If you have already paid to have your MAC Trailer repaired for this condition, you
may be eligible for reimbursement of the charges you paid for the repair. To learn
more about what you need to do to obtain reimbursement, please contact Dexter Axle
Company and reference their recall report 21E-019.
If after having attempted to take advantage of this recall you believe you have not been able
to have your MAC Trailer remedied without charge and within a reasonable amount of
