Wayfarer Valve Stem or Valve Stem Extenders may be damaged
Dear Wayfarer Owner,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Tiffin Motorhomes has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists on the following models of Wayfarer motorhomes: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Wayfarers, all floorplans.
It has come to our attention that these specific Wayfarer motorhomes are equipped with a decorative wheel liner that may come into contact with the valve stem or the valve stem extender used on the tires of the motorhome. Repeated contact of a valve stem extender with a wheel liner may cause damage to the valve stem or the valve stem extender. If a valve stem or a valve stem extender is damaged, it can result in a loss of air pressure in the tire. A loss of air pressure in the tire may increase the risk of a crash.
At this time, Wayfarer is developing a remedy for this issue but does not have the parts available to begin the repair. In the meantime, as a temporary fix, we recommend removing and saving all 4 (four) of the wheel liners that are installed on the motorhome to avoid any damage to the valve stems. This will allow owners to continue to use the motorhome while we are developing a remedy for this issue.
Once the wheel liners have been removed, the valve stem extenders should be examined for signs of damage from contacting the wheel liners.
Please take your motorhome to a Wayfarer dealer or other service center of your choosing to have this work done. Please allow up to 15 minutes for the wheel liners to be removed and valve stems inspected. If any damage is found on the valve stem or valve stem extenders, additional repair time may be needed based on what is found. The removal and inspection will be completed at no charge to you, the owner.
If any damage is found on the valve stem or valve stem extenders, please contact the Wayfarer warranty department for instructions on how to proceed to have the valve stem or valve stem extenders repaired. If owners have paid in the past for any damages due to the valve stem or valve stem extenders contacting the wheel liner, please submit a copy of the invoice that was paid by you, the owner, to the Wayfarer warranty department at the following address:

This is the first of two letters owners will receive regarding this recall. At this time, the only action for owners to take is to have the wheel liners removed from the motorhome and save them for when a recall remedy is available. The second letter will contain instructions for the repair when a remedy has been finalized.
If you do not own the vehicle that corresponds to the identification number which appears on this Recall Notification, please return the notification to the Tiffin Warranty Department with any information you can furnish that will assist us in locating the present owner. Federal regulations require that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days.

Wayfarer Valve Stem or Valve Stem Extenders may be damaged
Dear Wayfarer Owner,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Tiffin Motorhomes has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain models of Wayfarer motorhomes: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Wayfarers, all floorplans.
This is the second notice regarding this recall. The final recall repair is now available. Wayfarer has decided that as the remedy for this recall, the wheel liners should be permanently removed from the motorhome and discarded.
As previously advised, specific Wayfarer motorhomes are equipped with a decorative wheel liner that may come into contact with the valve stem or the valve stem extender used on the tires of the motorhome. Repeated contact of a valve stem extender with a wheel liner may cause damage to the valve stem or the valve stem extender. If a valve stem or a valve stem extender is damaged, it can result in a loss of air pressure in the tire. A loss of air pressure in the tire may increase the risk of a crash.
As consideration for the loss of the wheel liners, Tiffin Motorhomes will compensate owners with a one-time payment of $150.00.
Please arrange to take your motorhome into Tiffin Motorhomes dealer or service center. The recall repair will take approximately 15 minutes and will be completed at no charge to you, the owner. If you are using a service center that is not a Tiffin Motorhomes authorized repair facility, please make sure that they contact Tiffin Motorhomes for the required instructions and times allowed for the repair. Tiffin Motorhomes will not pay over the allowed time unless the repair facility receives a prior authorization. For authorization, contact Tiffin Motorhomes at 256-356-0261 or [email protected] .
The dealer or service center will remove the wheel liners and handle the disposal of the wheel liners. In the event that the wheel liners have been removed under the interim remedy for the recall, the removed wheel liners will need to be given to the dealer/service center for disposal. Once Tiffin Motorhomes has received the warranty claim or invoice from the dealer/service center you choose, verifying that the wheel liners have been disposed of, Tiffin Motorhomes will issue a check to you, the owner.
You may be liable for any progressive damage that results from your failure to complete the recall within a reasonable time after receiving notification.
If owners have paid in the past for any damages due to a failure of the valve stem extender making contact with the wheel liner, please submit a copy of the invoice that was paid by you, the owner, to the Wayfarer Warranty Department at the following address: Wayfarer Warranty Department, 6524 State Hwy 129 North, Winfield AL 35594. This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Tiffin Motorhomes has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists on certain models of Wayfarer motorhomes: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Wayfarers, all floorplans. Accordingly, a recall to address this issue is being initiated effective September 1, 2021.
This is the second notice regarding this recall. The final recall repair is now available. Wayfarer has decided that as the remedy for this recall, the wheel liners should be permanently removed from the motorhome and discarded.
As previously advised, specific Wayfarer motorhomes are equipped with a decorative wheel liner that may come into contact with the valve stem or the valve stem extender used on the tires of the motorhome. Repeated contact of a valve stem extender with a wheel liner may cause damage to the valve stem or the valve stem extender. If a valve stem or a valve stem extender is damaged, it can result in a loss of air pressure in the tire. A loss of air pressure in the tire may increase the risk of a crash.
As consideration for the loss of the wheel liners, Tiffin Motorhomes will compensate owners with a one-time payment of $150.00.
Owners are being notified by mail and have been instructed to bring their motorhome to a dealer or service center of their choice to have the wheel liners removed or to turn in wheel liners that were previously removed as the interim repair for this recall.
Tiffin Motorhomes is allowing 0.25 hours of labor to remove and dispose of the wheel liners. An owner will be allowed to bring in previously removed wheel liners for disposal, without having to present the motorhome. Once Tiffin Motorhomes receives a warranty claim verifying that the wheel liners have been removed and/or disposed of, Tiffin Motorhomes will issue owners a one-time payment of $150.00 in compensation for the loss of the wheel liners.
Please verify that the owners correct name and mailing address appear on the warranty claim submitted for payment.
Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to sell or lease any new motorhomes covered by this notification until this recall has been performed on these motorhomes. Substantial civil penalties apply to violations of this law.
