PACCAR
Incorporated (PACCAR
) is recalling certain 2022 Peterbilt
567 and 579 vehicles. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction indicator lamp may not illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, “Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles.”
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the ESC system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 28, 2021. Owners may contact PACCAR

An electronic stability control system (ESC) parameter has been incorrectly set. This could result in the dash lamp not illuminati ng in the event of a malfunction within the stability control system.
Situation
19 model 567 and 579 MY2022 chassis manufactured from 6/08/2021 through 7/08/2021 equipped with a WABCO Electronic Stability Control system.

Please follow your dealership’s safety procedures and precautions to ensure the vehicle can be safely repaired and maintained.
1. Open Davie4 on a laptop.
2. Connect the vehicle interface product (Nexiq USB-Link) tool to the OBD port.
3. Enter the chassis VIN and confirm that the Davie4 tool is communicating properly.
4. Verify that the Digital Dash Display update is available.
5. Download the Digital Dash Display update.

Service all affected chassis that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
1.
Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis is on the list.
2.
If you are not using Service Management to start repair orders, review SIR for “Complete” or “In Process” next to the “21PBL” campaign code prior to performing this repair.
3.
Follow the procedures below to correctly update the ESC parameter via DAVIE4.

There is no time or mileage limit for this recall. Peterbilt
will pay for labor:
•0.3 hours labor to update the ESC software parameter via Davie4. (Use Quick Claim Code 21PBL).
