Brake Caliper Retaining Clips May Warp Or Bend
An unseated brake caliper can cause a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
DRV Suites (DRV) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Elite Suites and Mobile Suites fifth wheel trailers. The brake caliper retaining clips may bend or warp while braking, causing the caliper to become unseated.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the caliper retaining clips, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 11, 2021. Owners may contact DRV customer service at 1-260-562-3500.

TITLE: Kodiak Clip Replacement Instructions โ Medium Duty
Revision Date: 08/20/2021
PURPOSE:
To replace non-hardened caliper retaining clip with hardened clip. Use recall code 99.02.12.
MATERIALS:
3) Sockets
4) Towels
5) Safety equipment including (but not limited to): safety glasses and steel-toed shoes
6) 10-ton jack
7) 10-ton jack stands (2)
REPLACING CALIPER HOLD DOWN CLIPS AND BOLTS.
Safety Note:
Properly support the trailer with jack stands while working on the trailer.
1) Identify unit(s) needing to be inspected based on production dates provided by DRV.
2) Raise and support the trailer.
NOTE: Elevate and support the trailer unit per manufacturersโ instructions.
3) Remove decorative hub cover with a #3 Phillips screwdriver and set aside.
4) Remove the wheel nuts with an impact gun or breaker bar and 15/16โ socket and remove the tire and wheel.
a) Set the wheel and wheel nuts aside.
5) Remove the caliper hold down clip cap screw, clip, and discard.
a) Socket size is 9/16โ
b) Do not remove the caliper.
6) Install new caliper hold down clip and cap screw.
7) Tighten cap screws to 45-50 ft lbs.
8) Remount the tire and wheel.
a) Start the flanged nuts by hand first to prevent from cross threading.
b) The use of a battery powered driver is acceptable to speed the install of the flanged nuts but do not attempt to torque the nuts with it.
c) Do final tightening of the wheel nuts with torque wrench set at 160 ft lbs.
9) Reinstall decorative hub cover and tighten screws with #3 Phillips screwdriver.
10) Remove the jacks, lower the trailer to the ground, and re-torque wheel fasteners.

8/9 โ notified by Chad Olinger (warranty mgr CRV/DRV) of a possible issue with rotor bolts coming lose
8/12 โ Chad, working with Dexter
Axle, provided scope for rotor bolt issue
8/12 โ set up meeting with Dexter, MorRyde, and Kodiak (owned by Dexter) for Aug 17.
8/17- Met with Dexter, MorRyde and Kodiak. Came to agreement to look over and do additional testing with DRV Unit. Will meet with Dexter to go over Torguing and testing. Met on 8/20 at DRV in Howe, Indiana to do additional testing.
8/20 โ met with dexter service team to do additional test to try and pinpoint issue. Also fix and time study.
8/25 โ email with dexter about needing additional information. Dexter is trying to pinpoint when they switched processes in production.
9/7 โ email with dexter about needing additional information. Dexter finalizing scope, fix and information.
9/15 โ received final information from Dexter axel about scope and fix
9/20 โ sent info to safety committee
