Brake line failure can result in a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary

Forest RivereBay logo, Inc. (Forest RivereBay logo) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Entrada motorhomes. The brake lines may wear against the front leveling jack brackets, possibly resulting in brake line failure.

 

Remedy

Dealers will relocate the front leveling jack brackets, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 2, 2021. Owners may contact Forest RivereBay logo Customer Service at 1-574-264-6664. Forest RivereBay logo’s number for this recall is 504-1426.

Concern:

The front leveling jack brackets may be installed to high and may compromise the brake lines, causing the brake lines to wear.

Disconnect the vehiclesโ€™ battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power.  Block any tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.

 

ENTRADA CLASS C MOTORHOMES AFFECTED: EAC2200SF, EAC2700NSF, EAC2900DSF & EAC3100FBF

 

STEP 1: ENSURE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK WITH PARKING BRAKE APPLIED AND REMOVE THE KEYS FROM   THE IGNITION SINCE YOU WILL BE WORKING UNDER THE VEHICLE;

 

STEP 2: INSPECT UNIT TO SEE IF THE BRAKE LINES ARE TOUCHING THE JACK BRACKETS ON THE   FRONT DRIVERโ€™S SIDE, IF THEY ARE PROCEED WITH FOLLOWING STEPS;

 

STEP 3: PROTECT THE BRAKE LINES TO PREPARE FOR REMOVING THE BRACKET(S);

 

STEP 4: USE A CUTTING WHEEL TO CUT THE BRACKETS OFF โ€“ TAKE GREAT CARE NOT TO CUT OR   COMPROMISE THE BRAKE LINE(S);

 

STEP 5: INSPECT THE BRAKE LINES FOR ANY SIGNS OF DAMAGE;

 

STEP 6: CHECK THE BRAKES TO CONFIRM NO DAMAGE TO THE LINE THAT WOULD CREATE A LEAK;

 

  • TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL, THEN VISUALLY INSPECT UNDER THE COACH;
  • DURING PUMPING OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, TAKE NOTE THE FEEL FOR THE PEDAL;
    • IF SOFT/SPONGY CHECK LINE AND RESERVOIR FOR FLUID
    • INSPECT FOR LEAK OR SIGNS OF LEAKING WHERE THE JACK BRACKET AND BRAKE LINES WERE AT;
    • IF THE BRAKE LINE(S) ARE DAMAGED TO THE POINT OF LEAKING, CONTACT A LOCAL FORDeBay logo DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE – DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL THE BRAKE LINE(S) ARE REPLACED AND IN WORKING ORDER FROM FORDeBay logo

 

STEP 7: IF NO LEAKING IS DETECTED, BUT THE BRAKE LINE(S) SHOW SOME COATING REMOVED, SPRAY WITH A PROTECTIVE COATING SUCH AS A SINGLE STEP PAINT/PRIMER;

 

STEP 8: ENSURE THE BRAKE LINE(S) ARE POPPED BACK INTO THEIR PROPER FRAME MOUNTED LOCATION, IF THEY WERE MOVED FROM ORIGINAL LOCATION;

 

STEP 9: ISOLATE AND PROTECT THE BRAKE LINE(S) FOR THE WELDING PROCESS OF THE JACK BRACKETS;

 

STEP 10: PROPERLY LOCATE BRACKET, 19โ€ FROM ZERO, 8-1/8 DOWN FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE FRAME TO BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET, SEE FIGURES ON REVERSE PAGE;

 

STEP 11: WELD JACK BRACKET INTO PLACE;

 

STEP 12: SPRAY PAINT THE WELDS;

 

STEP 13: TEST BRAKE APPLICATION AGAIN;

 

STEP 14: TEST THE LEVELING SYSTEM OPERATION TO ENSURE IT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY;

 

STEP 14: TAKE FOR A SHORT TEST DRIVE TO ENSURE ALL SYSTEMS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY;

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest RivereBay logo โ€“ Office of Corporate Compliance (โ€œOCCโ€) has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2021-2022 Entrada Class C Motorhome Recreational Vehicles.

 

WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?

The front leveling jack brackets are installed to high and may compromise the brake lines, causing the brake lines to wear.

 

EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.

The brake lines may wear and prematurely fail which may lead to a crash, property damage and personal injury.

 

WHAT IS FOREST RIVEReBay logo AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?

Forest RivereBay logo is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest RivereBay logo dealership. The bracket will need to be relocated to the correct dimension so that it does not interfere with the brakes lines. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest RivereBay logo completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.

 

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest RivereBay logo of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy.

HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?

The estimated time of repair is 2.0 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.

 

WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?

If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized.

Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for within the scope of this defect under recall.

Chronology :

On 9/30/2021 โ€“ During a routine inspection from the vendor it was determined that the jack brackets were being mounted to high causing them to interfere with the brake lines.

On 10/1/2021 โ€“ The manufacturing plants engineering division determined that a new dimension would need to be implemented to prevent the jack brackets from interfering with the brake lines.

On 10/4-10-6/2021 โ€“ The manufacturing plant determined the new dimension, inspected all vehicles in our possession and performed the remedy.

On 10/6/2021 โ€“ the manufacturing plant alerted Forest Riversโ€™ Office of Corporate Compliance of the concern and it was determined some units had shipped with this concern.

On 10/8/2021 โ€“ Forest Riversโ€™ Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall
