Pitman Arm Bolt Not Tightened Properly
A loose bolt may allow the pitman arm to detach from the steering box, causing a loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Orange EV (Orange) is recalling certain 2019-2021 EV-T Series Pure Electric Terminal trucks. The pitman arm bolt may have been incorrectly tightened, allowing the bolt to loosen.
Remedy
OEV Service Technicians will tighten or replace the pitman arm bolt, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 18, 2021. Owners may contact Orange customer service at 1-866-688-5223.

Chronology :
8/18/21 First failure of pitman arm fastener in field. Issue repaired.
8/30/21 Second Failure of pitman arm fastener in field. Issue repaired.
8/30/21 Engaged Orange EV Engineering group after second failure. Response from Engineering indicates possible root cause of low torque and Production team was not torquing pitman arm fastener. Engineering implemented production change to begin properly torquing fastener during production process.
9/8/21 Failed parts arrived back in KC for Engineering evaluation
9/8/21 โ 10/8/21 Multiple meetings with team to determine actions. Orange EV Engineering believes root cause is reverse bending of fastener due to inadequate torque. Could not determine if any vehicles had been properly torqued during production process.
9/15/21 Pitman arm, fastener and gearbox supplier (Sheppard) authorized RMA and opened 8D
9/24/21 Third Failure
10/8/21 Expanded Pitman arm fastener internal discussions began.
