Summary
Timpte
, Inc. (Timpte
) is recalling certain 2022 Bulk Commodity Hopper trailers. The screws that secure the bracket cover and end cover of the iABS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may have been improperly tightened, which can allow the screws to loosen and back out, resulting in a loss of pressure in the unit.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the iABS ECU, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 15, 2021. Owners may contact Timpte
customer service at 1-402-367-3056.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
We have been contacted by ZF Wabco, the supplier for the ABS systems that we use on our trailers, that they failed to properly torque portions of the ABS ECU on particular ECUs. As such they have initiated a Safety Recall with NHTSA. You are receiving this letter because trailers that you sold match the serial number of a unit produced with one of the identified ECUs. These trailers will have to have the ABS ECU replaced at the ownerโs earliest opportunity. ZF Wabco will pay for the replacement of the ABS ECU.
The end user that purchased the trailer(s) will receive a letter directly from Timpte
notifying them of the Safety Recall and directing them to bring it to an authorized repair facility at their earliest opportunity to have the ABS ECU replaced.
Attached to this letter is a list of the trailers that you sold that are included in this recall. As a service to your customer, we ask that you follow up with them and assist them in getting the identified trailers into a repair facility, preferably your facility, to be repaired as soon as possible.
To be able to perform the repair, the repair facility must have the ability to connect to the trailer and run the Wabco iABS diagnostics software. ZF Wabco has either already supplied your facility or will be contacting you to supply your facility, with the software needed.
