Production Dates : MAR 12, 2021 – DEC 01, 2021 VIN Range 1 : Begin : NR End : NR Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : Certain 2022 Great Dane Everest Refrigerated, and Champion Dry Van trailers were produced using a supplier assembled axle that may have had deficient lubricant fill levels in the wheel hubs. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : Inadequate lubrication fill levels in the wheel hubs could lead to tapered roller bearings not receiving proper lubrication to support function. This could lead to a catastrophic failure of the hub bearings which could in an extreme case, cause the trailer’s wheel/tire/hub assembly to become detached; increasing the possibility of a loss of stability and/or control of the vehicle leading to a crash. Further if the trailer’s wheel/tire/hub assembly were to become detached it could create a hazard for other vehicles. Description of the Cause : NR Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : ABS may illuminate indicating excessive wheel end play. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : After inspection and correction, the component will have the proper level of lubricant.
