Summary
Spartan Fire
, LLC is recalling certain 2019-2022 Gladiator and MetroStar vehicles. The fuel tubes between the fuel rail and the injectors for cylinders four, five, and six may fatigue and crack, which can result in a high pressure fuel leak.
Remedy
On engines with 75 miles or less, dealers will install vibration isolators to the fuel tubes. Engines with more than 75 miles will receive new fuel tubes with vibration isolators. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 5, 2022. Owners may contact Spartan Fire

, LLC has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2019 through 2022 model year Gladiator and MetroStar model Emergency Response chassis cabs equipped with a Cummins
X12 engine.
Please note: The Vehicle Identification Number that may be affected by this recall is located at the top of this letter.
What is the defect?
The fuel tubes between the fuel rail and the injector for cylinders 4, 5, and 6 may be susceptible to cracking, resulting in a high pressure fuel leak.
A high pressure fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of a fire. Fuel leaks may be detected during maintenance. An operator may smell fuel or observe a mist due to the fuel leak.
Corrective Action:
Vehicles subject to this recall are to be inspected and repaired by a Cummins
certified dealer or technician. Replacement of the fuel tubes and installation of the vibration isolators will take approximately 4 hours. The remedy will be done at no charge.

about recall 21E-099 for their X12 engines on December 6, 2021. An investigation was started and Spartan determined that a defect investigation report should be generated. On December 10, 2021, REV’s senior leadership approved a voluntary recall for this issue.

On December 10, 2021, REV’s senior leadership approved a voluntary recall for this issue. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : For engines having 75 miles or less, the remedy will consist of adding vibration isolators to the fuel tubes; fuel tubes do not need to be replaced. For all other engines, the subject fuel tubes for cylinders 4, 5, and 6 (the rear half of the engine) will be replaced with new fuel tubes (having the same part number as the recalled components) and vibration isolators will be added to the fuel tubes. A recall-specific reimbursement plan will be provided on the Recall Portal for those units not covered by the manufacturer’s limited warranty. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The replacement fuel tubes will also have vibration isolators. The fuel tube and vibration isolator combination will have a new part number. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The injector alignment to the cylinder head was improved by implementing an improved alignment fixture during engine assembly and vibration isolators were added to the fuel tubes during engine assembly on November 2, 2021.
