Disconnect the battery cables from the truck battery. 1 Connection Box 2 Cable Access Opening 3 Air Discharge Line 4 Fuel Lines Remove existing hose retaining bracket from cable access opening. Discard bracket. Disconnect air discharge line from compressor and remove completely from machine. Using a rag, disconnect and remove both fuel lines from machine. Mop up any fuel. 5 Inverter Module Top Screws (4) Remove four 1/4–20 screws near top of inverter module (two per side). 6 Inverter Module Bottom Screws (6) Remove six 5/16 screws at bottom of inverter module (three per side). F290964 Page 3 5. Positive Battery Cable Protection Disconnect the battery cables from the truck battery. Remove battery positive cable from starter stud. Cut the lug off end of cable. Pull cable out the back of the machine through the cable access opening. Inspect cable and replace if jacket is swollen or damaged. Contact factory service. Install the supplied corrugated tubing (291499) over the cable. Tubing should be installed so it ends 3 in. (76 mm) from the end of the cable. Crimp supplied lug (034377) to cable. Carefully route positive cable back into the machine. Cable should be fed between engine mount casting and base as shown. Attach cable to starter stud. F290964 Page 4 6. Installing New Retaining Bracket 1 New Retaining Bracket Slide both hydraulic lines over toward right side of opening (near sump pipe). Insert bracket into opening, right part first, over the hydraulic lines. Lift the inverter module slightly to make room for the left side of bracket to slide between the bulkhead and base. Pull battery cables toward the side of the base to clear the left side of the bracket while pushing the bracket completely in; the bracket should reach under the crossmember. F290964 Page 5 7. Reinstalling Lines And Hoses 1 2 1 3 4 1 Fuel Lines 2 Sleeving (Supplied) Put enclosed sleeving over both fuel lines. Insert both fuel lines back into the machine through the left side of the large hose opening next to the battery cables. Do not use the small holes in the bulkhead for these lines. Sleeving should be positioned as shown with approximately 1 in. of sleeving outside of the base of the machine. Use supplied cable tie to secure sleeving in this location. Secure to the battery cables. 3 Air Discharge Hose 4 Hydraulic Lines Insert air discharge hose between fuel lines and hydraulic lines. Route and attach to compressor. Check all hose routing for pinch points and rubbing on moving objects such as the driveshaft, belts, or pulleys. Make sure all hoses and cables are below retaining bracket. Lower hose retaining bracket onto hoses and tighten screws to secure hoses. Connect truck battery cables to terminals in connection box. Reinstall top and bottom inverter module screws to secure the inverter.

As a result, there is the possibility that contact between the pulley/belt and the wire/cable/hoses can occur and cause friction damage to the wire/cable/ hoses, although no occurrences of this situation have been reported. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : If contact between the pulley/belt in the Enpak and wire/cable/hoses occurs the insulation around wires/cables will be worn down, and potentially allow shorting between the intended power path. In one instance it is a 12-volt power cable going to the Enpak engine starter. This short-circuiting could lead to cable failure and presents a potential fire hazard. In another instance if the diesel fuel hose makes contact with the pulley/belt, the hose could wear through creating a diesel fuel leak while the Enpak is in operation. Maintainer must remove this guard in order to install our body wiring to the Enpak. If this guard is re-installed incorrectly it can force the wire/cable/hoses up against the pulley/belt causing contact and creating wear on the wire/ cable/hose. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : There could potentially be no warning if the defect occurs while the Enpak is operating. However, the Enpak may not start if the power cable is damaged and may stall if the fuel line is damaged and begins to leak fuel. Realizing the potential for misassemble of the shielding bracket on previous completed and shipped bodies, Maintainer sent notification of the potential issue and need to perform a visual inspection to the affected dealers and customers on 2/4/2022. Miller Electric was also contacted on this date of this Enpak issue. Maintainer has now been made aware on 3/05/22 through certified mail of a remedy through Miller Electric service memo 1286. Miller has also provided field repair instructions along with an install repair kit. Maintainer will coordinate the repairs with Miller by providing them with dealer and customer locations. These repairs will be free of charge to our Dealers and Customers. If you have already paid for a remedy (e.g., repair, replacement, etc.) related to the defect described in this notice, you may be eligible for reimbursement of such costs by submitting a reimbursement claim to our customer service department. Maintainer performed a part number search within our ERP system to determine which bodies contained this particular Miller Enpak Model. The Miller Enpak Model A60GBH is assembled to the Maintainer service bodies in a manner that differs from all other auxiliary power units therefore this model and service body configuration are the only units included in this recall. Production Dates : SEP 17, 2021 – FEB 09, 2022 Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : The service bodies involved in this recall are equipped with a Miller Enpak A60GBH that are installed by Maintainer. Miller Electric has informed us that the Enpak’s have been designed in a manner that may compromise the cables/ wires and fuel hose by contacting the pully/belt. As a result, there is the possibility that contact between the pulley/belt and the wire/cable/hoses can occur and cause friction damage to the wire/cable/hoses. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : If contact between the pulley/belt in the Enpak and wire/cable/hoses occurs the insulation around wires/cables will be worn down, and potentially allow shorting between the intended power path. In one instance it is a 12-volt power cable going to the Enpak engine starter. This short-circuiting could lead to cable failure and presents a potential fire hazard. In another instance if the diesel fuel hose makes contact with the pulley/belt, the hose could wear through creating a diesel fuel leak while the Enpak is in operation. This would only occur while the Enpak is operating and not while the service body is traveling down the road. Description of the Cause : The Miller Enpak contains a bracket to shield wires/cables/hoses from coming in contact with the Enpak drive pulley/belt. Maintainer must remove this shield in order to install our body wiring to the Enpak. Once the shield is reinstalled, it can force the wires/cables/hoses up against the pulley/belt causing contact and creating wear on the wire/cable/hose. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : There could potentially be no warning if the defect occurs while the Enpak is operating. However, the Enpak may not start if the power cable is damaged and may stall if the fuel line is damaged and begins to leak fuel. It was then determined that during reinstallation of the shielding bracket that the wires/cables and fuel lines were being compromised if the shielding bracket was not re-positioned correctly. Maintainer has now been made aware on 3/05/22 through certified mail of a remedy through Miller Electric service memo 1286. Miller has also provided field repair instructions along with an install repair kit. Maintainer will coordinate the repairs with Miller by providing them with dealer and customer locations. These repairs will be free of charge to our Dealers and Customers. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Please see the service memo no. 1286 and field instructions provided by Miller electric. The remedy will be Installation of a revised Shielding Bracket to shield the belt from the hydraulic, compressor, and fuel lines included in Miller’s installation kit 291818. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : All affected units in production had a remedy applied to them prior to final production. This remedy was created before Miller came forward with their service memo 1286. All completed service trucks on the Maintainer premises with the Enpak’s and all Enpak’s in our inventory have been yellow tagged and will be repaired here on site by trained Miller Enpak personnel.
