LEGEND MANUFACTURING is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any LEGEND MANUFACTURING dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. The remedy will include inspection of the coupler for missing welds and if any are found, the coupler will be replaced. Using your phone or digital camera, take a picture of the bottom side of the coupler and sent it to the Warranty Manager at LEGEND MANUFACTURING at: [email protected]. Provide your phone number, VIN number and an appropriate time for the Warranty Manager to call you with a decision regarding the integrity of the coupler. If our Warranty Manager is not able to determine the weld’s integrity, you will be instructed to contact your dealer and request a service representative come to your location and inspect and if required, replace the coupler at no charge to you. The trailer owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by LEGEND MANUFACTURING regarding this recall and provide the recall number (your trailer’s VIN number) to the dealership. Address : 19120 SE 34th Street Vancouver Washington 98683 Country : United States Chronology : On September 15, 2021 Legend received two crates of suspect couplers, i.e., (220 pcs. each for a total 440 pcs.) of CA-5400-B. On September 17, 2021 one crate of CA-5400-B couplers was placed into inventory and consumed during production. Of the 220 suspect couplers, 89 need to be inspected. On September 17, 2021 the remaining crate of CA-5400-B couplers (220 pcs.) was isolated in stock. They remained there until inspected on February 22, 2022. All checked good. On November 4, 2021, Legend Manufacturing, Inc. received an email from Product Bulletin from Pacific Rim International LLC/Pacific Trailer Products Inc. regarding incorrectly welded couplers, (part number CA-5400- B) that were received on September 15, 2021 and isolated in stock. From November 4th and going forward, Legend inspected every coupler to make sure they were welded correctly and all remaining couplers checked good. On February 4, 2022 Legend Manufacturing received a recall notice from Pacific Rim International LLC/Pacific Trailer Products Inc. regarding the suspect couplers. On February 22, 2022, Legend Manufacturing personnel inspected the remaining crate of CA-5400-B couplers that had been isolated in stock since September 15, 2021 and all checked good. On February 24, 2022 Legend Manufacturing Corporate Recall Officer decided to recall.
