Summary
Ubco Bikes US LLC (Ubco) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Ubco 2X2 ADV motorcycles. A gear in the wheel hub may loosen and contact the hub motor.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the hub motor as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed by May 5, 2022. Owners may contact Ubco customer service at 1-541-357-4067. Ubco’s number for this recall is UBCO-CS-00017.

UBCO Bikes US LLC has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2021-2022 UBCO 2X2 ADV bikes. Reason for Recall The annulus gear, a component of the wheel hub, may loosen during operation causing abnormal contact between the gear and hub motor. If this abnormal contact occurs while the bike is in motion, the affected wheel may seize without prior warning, causing a crash. What will UBCO do? Your local Authorized UBCO dealer will inspect and verify that the correct tightening torque is applied to the annulus gear component in the front and rear wheel of your bike, upon completion of this inspection, the hub motor seals and bearings will be replaced with new parts. If the torque is not found to be adequate the motor will be replaced. All work will be performed free-of-charge. What should you do? Upon receipt of this letter, owners should contact their local Authorized UBCO Dealer to arrange for this repair to be conducted. It is strongly recommended to have the remedy conducted immediately. Hi UBCO US Dealers, Following on from previous communications, UBCO will be launching a voluntary safety campaign in the United States involving all Gen X5 Adventure and Work bikes (Model Year 2021 and 2022). This campaign will involve conducting an inspection process in the motors of each affected bike. In order to support the campaign, please find the below documents attached: Please save these documents securely for future use. 1. UBCO CS-00017 – Annulus Gear Inspection Campaign This document provides an overview of the campaign information, affected range, next steps and claim process. 2. UBCO CS-00017 – Annulus Gear Inspection Instructions This document contains technical instructions for completing the inspection. 3. CS-00017 Inspection Form This form must be filled out and returned on completion of the inspection. 4. 2X2 Campaign Checking Tool This Excel based tool allows a bikeโs VIN/PIN number to be entered and will inform if the bike is affected by the campaign. The annulus gear tool and initial quantities of recall parts kits start shipping out yesterday to authorized Dealers and will be showing up Monday next week. The annulus gear tool has shipped first and there will be a follow up shipment of recall parts within the next week. The recall parts are only for used bikes in the field that come back in for the recall and will receive a new set of bearings and seals for the motor.
