Heartland RV (Heartland) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on certain 2022 Lithium, 2022 Prowler, and 2022 Trail Runner travel trailers. We apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause you, however your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us. On certain 2022 Lithium, 2022 Prowler, and 2022 Trail Runner travel trailers the 50 amp shore power inlet may have been manufactured with lugs that don’t allow for proper torqueing. If the lugs are not properly torqued, they may loosen and cause arching, overheating, and potentially a fire. Heartland will have an authorized dealer or repair center inspect and verify proper torque on the 50 amp shore inlet. If proper torque cannot be attained the dealer will replace with a new inlet. This repair should take no more than 30 minutes to complete. This defect will be corrected at no expense to you, the owner. At your earliest convenience, Please contact your local dealer to set up an appointment to have this inspected and if needed corrected immediately, this service will be performed free of charge. This may prevent proper torquing of the lug to the required 20in/lbs. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : if the lugs are not properly torqued, they may loosen and cause arching, overheating, and potentially a fire Description of the Cause : The supplier substituted lug material during manufacturing which was a harder material than specified. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : The owner may not have power in the unit or possibly smell smoke, particularly around the shore power inlet. Box 638 Elkhart Indiana 46515 Country : United States Chronology : 3/7 notified by Thor corp that one of our suppliers may have an issue with shore power supplies. 3/8 received some info from Patrick of possible VIN range. 3/15 received an email forwarded from Patrick industries about the exact PO numbers affected. Acquired scope. 3/17 sent to the safety committee. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : The Remedy will be to have your local Heartland dealer or service center inspect the 50 amp power inlet lugs for proper torque to 20 lbs. If proper torque cannot be attained the dealer will replace it with a new inlet. This will be completed at no expense to the owner. All reimbursements will be covered by Heartland generalized reimbursement plan. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The correct part will have new properly stamped lugs. Patrick 50A shore power inlet (Part No. 93379) Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : upon being identified we verified that we did not have any more affected power cords in the facility and removed any cord that was affected in Patrick’s scope.
