Great Dane LLC has determined that certain model year 2019 Great Dane Freedom platform trailers produced in the Huntsville, Tennessee manufacturing facility may have been produced without a rear impact guard certification plate. Rear impact guards with missing plates may not be identified in the event of a safety recall, potentially resulting in an un-remedied safety issue and an increased risk of a crash or injury. It is important to note that the rear impact guards meet the applicable certification standards, just the certification plate was not installed on the rear impact guards. No accidents or injuries have been reported from the field. Great Dane will supply RIG certification plates stamped with the trailer date of manufacture once it has been determined by a Great Dane authorized agent that the original rear impact guard is still attached to the trailer and is in an unaltered state. It is estimated that this inspection/repair will take approximately 1 hour and will be performed free of charge. If a replacement certification plate was purchased by the customer for one of the recalled units prior to the issuance of this recall, please contact Great Dane Customer Service at (877) 369-3493 to see if this replacement qualifies for reimbursement under the conditions of this recall.
