IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL
This notice applies to your vehicle, 3C7WRNCL9NG186467
Braun Recall Notice: 22V370
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Braun Industries has decided a safety related defect may exist with some Weldon Hercules HC 1.5 I/O Nodes, Weldon Part Number 6060-1000-00, produced between April 21, 2022, and April 29, 2022.
In the affected products, Weldon installed a termination resistor on the circuit board. In this configuration and when combined with external resistors located in a harness or with multiple nodes that do not have external resistors, CAN communication may become compromised which can impact any of the electrical loads that are connected to the CAN, including vehicle lighting, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. Since V-MUX systems are configured to match user needs, some installations may not present an issue at initial acceptance test, but nevertheless should be remedied. You are receiving this notice because Braun records indicate you have received shipments of affected units.
Braun will remedy the affected units free of charge by replacing them with Hercules HC 1.6 that has the same functionality as the Hercules 1.5 but does not include the internal terminator resistor. Replacement Hercules
HC 1.6 I/O Nodes are available as of May 15th, 2022. Replacement is done by removing the affected Hercules HC 1.5 I/O Nodes and installing Hercules HC 1.6 I/O Nodes. Replacement labor for each node replacement is 15 minutes per node. Nodes will require OEM programming which can be done by USB thumb drive.
| Affected Part | Hercules HC 1.5 | Part Number 6060-1000-00 |
| Replacement Part | Hercules HC 1.6 | Part Number 6060-1010-00 |
Please contact Braun Industries to arrange replacement of the affected Hercules HC 1.5 I/O Node(s) in your vehicle(s). The Braun Service contact information is as follows:
Phone: 877-344-9990 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EDT,
Email: [email protected]
It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by the notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied.
If Braun Industries is unable to arrange service as described above without charge within a 60 day period upon contacting Braun Industries, you may submit a complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1200 New Jersey Avenue, S.E., Washington, DC 20590 or call toll-free Auto Safety Hotline at 1-888327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
Any lessor who receives a notification of a determination of a safety-related defect or noncompliance pertaining to any leased motor vehicle shall send a copy of such notice to the lessee of a leased motor vehicle, by first-class mail to the most recent lessee known to the lessor. Such notification shall be mailed within ten days of the lessor’s receipt of the notification from the vehicle manufacturer. This requirement applies to both initial and follow-up notifications but does not apply where the manufacturer has notified a lessor’s lessees directly.
We apologize in advance for the inconvenience this issue may cause your organization. We will continue to work with Weldon and make every effort to make this as simple as possible on both our Dealers and our Customers.
Sincerely,
Kim Braun
President – U.S. Division

If the CAN network connection is interrupted or fails and depending on how the vehicle’s electrical systems are designed, it may impact the operation of various electrical loads controlled by the Node, including vehicle lighting, which may increase the risk of a crash Description of the Cause : Due to a bill of material error, a resistor installed on the printed circuit board was inadvertently included by the manufacturer Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : NR Involved Components : Component Name 1 : V-mux Hercules HC Node 1.5 Component Description : High-Content Node Component Part Number : Weldon P/N:6060-1000-00 (Braun P/N: 28735) Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-370 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : Weldon Division of Akron Brass Address : 3656 Paragon Drive Columbus Ohio 43228 Country : United States Chronology : Weldon, the manufacturer of the defective component, verbally notified Braun Industries of the upcoming recall on 5/9/22. Braun received recall notices from Wheldon for the 22E-037 recall on 5/17/22, decision for Braun recall on 5/20/22. Claims were received between 7/6/22 and 7/25/22. All 4 units covered under the recall were completed by 8/2/22. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Braun Industries will contact affected customers and their dealer in to inform them of the subject components. Braun Industries and/or their dealer will arrange for the affected Weldon Hercules HC 1.5 I/O nodes to be removed from the customer vehicle/s. Replacement nodes will be installed in the customers vehicle/s. Dealers who conduct the removal and replacement of the nodes will contact Braun Industries Service for reimbursement upon completion of work. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The remedy component will have the additional termination resistor removed from the circuit board. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Vehicles with the affected node have had those nodes replaced starting on 5/11/22. Remedy of production vehicles at Braun’s location is still in process. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Recall Dealer Notifications will be sent between 5/25/22 and 6/1/22.
