Risk of Vehicle Rollaway/FMVSS 121
A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of a crash.
NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V468
Manufacturer Daimler Trucks
North America, LLC
Components PARKING BRAKE
Potential Number of Units Affected 17
Summary
Daimler Trucks
North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022 Freightliner
Cascadia vehicles. The electronic parking brake may not engage when the vehicle is keyed off, which may result in a vehicle rollaway. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 121, “Air Brake Systems,” and 136, “Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles.”
Remedy
Dealers will install a fused harness overlay, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 9, 2023. Owners may contact DNTA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA’s number for this recall is FL-945.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

There will be no Dealer Notification for safety recall 22V-339, 22V443, 22V456, 22V468.
DTNA has tracked all of the vehicles in this limited population and knows with certainty that none of the vehicles remain in the hands of a dealership. Due to the limited population subject to the recall, DTNA will work with the lone customer to get the vehicles repaired. Therefore, no dealership letter is needed in this unique case.
Chronology :
On or about April 4, 2022, DTNA learned that during an internal routine test procedure, the park brake on some limited production vehicles was not initiating after the truck was turned off. DTNA promptly began an investigation into the braking systems functionality to assess potential compliance issues. DTNA’s analysis determined that the park brake remained functional while the truck was turned on and confirmed to the best of DTNA’s knowledge that the issue may exist on 17 specific customer vehicles. To the best of DTNA’s knowledge, there are zero warranty claims and zero field reports concerning this issue. DTNA is not aware of any death or injury related to this issue. On June 29, 2022, DTNA determined that a non-compliance existed and decided to conduct a voluntary non-compliance recall campaign for these limited production vehicles. The investigation found no evidence of accident or injury as a result of the issue.
