Production Dates : MAR 01, 2017 – MAR 01, 2020 VIN Range 1 : Begin : NR End : NR Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : The step in the remedy instructions for 21V-514 included a step for torque specification on the wheel lug nuts and this was not followed by the service technicians at Wayfarer Service Center. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : improperly torqued wheel lugs nuts could cause the wheel to become loose which could lead to an accident or injury. Description of the Cause : Service technicians did not follow the work instructions to torque the wheel lug nuts. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : Possible wheel wobble. Involved Components : Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-650 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Component Name 1 : NR Component Description : NR Component Part Number : NR Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : NR Address : NR NR Country : NR Chronology : 07/27/2022 the safety committee was notified that 30 of the first units to have the recall remedy completed at the Wayfarer Service Center did not have the torque verified when the wheel liners were installed. Safety committee decided to contact the owners and ask them to take the units in and have the torque verified and corrected if needed. 08/08/2022 NHTSA emailed and questioned the documents that Tiffin Motorhomes had uploaded for letters mailed to owners. 08/09/2022 NHTSA emailed and stated that we would have to have all units corrected by 08/31/2022 or we would have to file a new recall. 8/26/2022 Spoke with members of the NHTSA Recall Division and new recall will be issued for the 9 remaining coaches that have not had the torque verified. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : The torque will be checked and if it is not within specifications, the torque will be corrected accordingly. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Proper torque specifications. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : When Tiffin Motorhomes were made aware that Wayfarer service technicians were not torqueing the wheel lug nuts, they immediately rectified the situation. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to have the units checked and corrected if necessary. This will be completed at no charge to the owners.
