This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
WHY IS THIS RECALL BEING CONDUCTED? Blackbeard’s Motorcycle Gear has determined that HamrHead Model HM‐ 569 in sizes Medium and XL manufactured in December 2020 failed to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) No. 218. Specifically, random samples of the sizes Medium and XL did not meet all S5.1 Impact Attenuation and S5.2 Penetration compliance standards upon laboratory testing in certain environmental conditions. Helmets affected have a manufacture date of December 2020 that can be found on the warning label inside the helmet. Blackbeards Motorcycle Gear has decided to recall all sizes of the HM‐569 manufactured in December 2020 out of an abundance of caution.
SAFETY RISK: By wearing a noncompliant helmet, the user may not be adequately protected in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of possible personal injury in certain types of accidents.
REMEDY: If you own a HamrHead HM‐569 motorcycle helmet in any size with a manufacture date of December 2020, the manufacturer will send you a refund of the purchase price upon return of the helmet to us. You can check the model number and manufacture date by examining the safety label inside your helmet. This remedy will cost you nothing. The shipping costs to return your helmet will also be covered. After you contact our Recall Services Department, and your item is verified as being included in this recall, you will receive detailed instructions on preparing your helmet for shipment and returning it to us. Within 15 days of the Recall Services Department receiving your item, a refund will be mailed to you.

Description of Remedy Program : Blackbeards Motorcycle Gear will notify all identifiable owners by direct

services number at 1-888-878-5281 or email us at [email protected] to verify that the item purchased is part of this recall, and obtain an RA number before returning the recalled helmet. Once an RA number is issued, Blackbeards Motorcycle Gear will send a prepaid return label for the consumer to use to return the recalled helmet to us at no charge to the consumer. The refund will be processed within 10 days after we receive the recalled item. Blackbeards did not sell to any dealers or distributors so there will be no dealer notifications.
