Production Dates : JUN 28, 2022 – JUL 25, 2022 VIN Range 1 : Begin : 4VZAU1D1XPC093361 End : 4VZAU1D19PC093464 ✔ Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : Under grade fasteners were used to attach the front and rear suspensions to the chassis frame. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : Under grade fasteners may be at their yield point and could fail. Depending on the amount of fasteners that fail, either suspension could shift which could increase the risk of a crash. Description of the Cause : Supplier supplied the incorrect fasteners. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : The occupants in the vehicle may hear a popping noise if the fasteners brake. Involved Components : Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-789 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Component Name 1 : Bolt Component Description : Grade 8.8 M20 fastener Component Part Number : NR Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : Wurth Address : 598 Cheyne Avenue Greenwood Indiana 46143 Country : United States Chronology : On, or near, 7/29/2022, under grade fasteners were found to have been delivered to the production line. Shyft quarantined the incorrect fasteners and issued a stop ship to replace any fasteners that were installed. Shyft’s OEM technicians began canvasing chassis at affected final stage manufacturers. On 10/13/2022 Shyft learned 4 units had been delivered to OEM dealers with the under grade fasteners. Engineering conducted an analysis and determined the under grade fasteners could be at their yield given the amount of torque applied. On 10/17/2022, Shyft determined a safety related defect could exist in those vehicles and decided to issue this recall even though the 4 vehicles are not yet in possession of retail owners. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Shyft will work with OEM dealers to replace the affected fasteners free of charge. A reimbursement plan is not needed as these vehicles are within their warranty period. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The recalled component will have different markings on the bolt head from those that have been remedied. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : When the issue was identified in production at Shyft, incorrect fasteners were quarantined and chassis were held to replace incorrect fasteners.
