Production Dates : MAY 04, 2021 – APR 18, 2022 VIN Range 1 : Begin : W1W4EBVY2LT019735 End : W1W4EBVY4LT020207 ✔ Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : The spare tire carrier and molle rack may not be installed correctly on the rear van doors. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : In the event that either the spare tire carrier or the molle rack were to become detached from the rear door while driving, it could increase the risk of crash. Description of the Cause : Production workers did not use the complete spare tire carrier and molle rack installation kit consistantly. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : None Involved Components : Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-297 Page 2 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Component Name 1 : Tire Carrier Mounting Kit Component Description : Spare Tire Carrier Kit Component Part Number : 106426_C Component Name 2 : Molle Rack Mounting Kit Component Description : Molle Rack Component Part Number : 106435_C Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : Summit Products Address : 6750 NE 41st Ave. Altoona Iowa 50009 Country : United States Chronology : 03/06/2023 While running warranty claim reports for another investigation, we found a number of warranty claims stating problem of loose spare tire carriers. 03/10/2023 Spoke with Wayfarer Service Center to question if they had seen similar issues. Started gathering data. 3/20/2023 Presented the data to the Safety Committee. The Safety Committee decided to continue investigation by having field reps take pictures of stock units at dealer lots. Continued to review details regarding the warranty claims that reported damage. 4/25/2023 Safety committee voted to do recall after review of the additional data. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Hardware kit (nuts, bolts, backer plates, washers, reinforcement plates, and caps, etc) will be replaced on all units. Work instructions will be posted on Tiffin Motorhomes website. This will done at no charge to owner of the coach. Any owners that have paid for damage due to this issue can submit a claim to Tiffin Motorhomes for reimbursement. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The Cahaba is no longer produced, so there are no units in production. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Owner and dealers will be notified of the recall repair and advised that the recall will be performed at no charge to the customer.
