Dear Freightliner Sprinter Owner: This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Freightliner Sprinter vans, has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Model Year 2021 Freightliner Sprinter vehicles. Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles. Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles. What is the Concern?
On certain Sprinter vehicles, the fuel pump impeller might deform and contact the fuel pump housing, resulting in mechanical resistance to the impeller. This could cause the fuel pump to stop operating. As a result, the vehicle could lose drive power, which could increase the risk of a crash or injury. Before the fuel pump is switched off, the driver may be made aware of a malfunction by a warning message in the instrument cluster and might notice a roughly running engine.
Unfortunately, the parts to remedy this are not yet available.
We are working to obtain the necessary parts to replace the fuel pump as quickly as possible. As replacement parts become available, we will send you another letter asking you to take your vehicle to an authorized Freightliner Sprinter dealer to have the recall completed free of charge. A vehicle identification number (VIN)-based recall lookup tool, on our website offers a search function that will indicate whether a vehicle has been subject to a safety recall, and whether that vehicle has had the free remedy performed.

Dear Freightliner Sprinter Owner: This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Sprinter vans, has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Model Year (“MY”) 2021 Freightliner Sprinter vehicles. Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles.
What is the issue?
On certain Sprinter vehicles, the fuel pump impeller might deform and come into contact with the fuel pump housing, leading to a mechanical resistance. This could lead to a shutdown of the fuel pump and a loss of drive power, which could increase the risk of a crash or injury.
What will your Freightliner Dealer do?
An authorized Freightliner Sprinter dealer will replace the fuel delivery module on the affected vehicles. This could take approximately 2 hours. This service will be provided free of charge. You may be asked for your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) which for your convenience is located above your name at the top of this letter. Steps to take.

Reimbursement to Customers for Repairs Performed Prior to Recall If you have already paid to have this recall condition corrected, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement. Background
Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Sprinter vans, has determined that on certain Sprinter (907 platform) vehicles the fuel pump impeller might not meet specifications in regards to material Issue What We’re Doing characteristics. As a consequence, the impeller might deform and come into contact with the fuel pump housing, leading to a mechanical resistance. In some instances, this could lead to a shutdown of the fuel pump. As a result, the vehicle could lose propulsion, which could increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Description of the Defect : Mercedes-Benz AG has determined that on certain Metris (447 platform) and Sprinter (907 platform) vehicles the fuel pump impeller might not meet specifications in regards to material characteristics.

Description of the Safety Risk : As a consequence, the impeller might deform. It might therefore come into
contact with the fuel pump housing, leading to a mechanical resistance. In some instances, this could lead to a shutdown of the fuel pump. As a result, the vehicle could lose propulsion, and increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Description of the Cause : Due to a deviation in the production process of a sub-supplier, certain fuel pump impellers might not meet the material requirements, and thus certain batches of fuel delivery modules might not meet the durability properties. Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur : Before the fuel pump is switched off, the driver may be made aware of a malfunction by a warning message in the instrument cluster and might notice the engine running rough. Involved Components : Component Name 1 : Fuel Delivery Module Component Description : NR

Description of Remedy Program : As a precautionary measure, Mercedes-Benz AG, via its Mercedes-Benz
service partners, will replace the fuel delivery module on the affected vehicles.
If you have already paid to have this recall condition corrected, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement. Requests for reimbursement may include parts, labor, fees and taxes. Reimbursement may be limited to the amount the repair would have cost if completed by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
