Polaris
Industries Inc. (Polaris
) is recalling certain 2020 Slingshot GT, 2021-2023 Slingshot S, Slingshot S Tech, 2020-2023 Slingshot R, Slingshot SL, and 2022-2023 Slingshot SLR vehicles updated with Ride Command Software, version SLS7AB.M32304A. After shifting out of reverse, the rearview camera image may freeze and display a blank screen if shifted into reverse again. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.”
Remedy
The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2023. Owners may contact Polaris
’ customer service at 1-855-863-2284. Polaris
’ number for this recall is T-23-03.

SUBJECT: REVERSE CAMERA PURPOSE
Polaris
has determined that on Model Year 2020-2023 Slingshot vehicles updated with Ride Command software SLS7AB. M32304A (released April 2023), after shifting out of reverse, the rear camera image may freeze and the rear camera image may not be displayed if shifted to reverse again. A rear camera with a deactivated image can reduce the driver’s rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash and risk of serious injury.
To resolve this concern, Polaris
has released an updated Ride Command software. Polaris
will be pushing an Over The Air update to those vehicles with active Ride Command+ subscriptions in the coming days. Dealers have the option to inspect and update those vehicles through USB prior to the OTA (Over The Air) release, so they can be sold.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Polaris
is reviewing a consumer completion option. Dealers are required to review their sales records and make arrangements with customers for Recall completion. In addition to consumer units, dealers are required to correct any affected units in their inventory. Polaris
will be mailing a notification letter to consumers affected by this Recall. Polaris
will also send an email to owners for whom Polaris
has a valid email address.

SOFTWARE UPDATE
- Press the START/STOP button to power the vehicle on.
NOTICE
If the vehicle has an active Ride Command+ subscription, a banner will show at the top of the Ride Command screen after powering the vehicle on.
- On the display screen, press the Software Update Available at the top of the screen. This will direct to the settings page where you need to select “install” (the vehicle needs to be in the full-on state, with engine off for install to initiate). Install should take less than 5 minutes. The display will restart and software will be updated.
NOTICE
If you do not see the banner, you can check for updates by going to the settings menu.
VERIFICATION
- On the display screen, press the Slingshot logo at the top of the screen.
- Press ALL SETTINGS.
- Verify that the software version is no longer M32304A (APR 2023).
- Submit a Service Bulletin Warranty Claim for T-23-03-B.

If the vehicle does not have an active Ride Command+ subscription, the software will need to be downloaded to a USB drive:
- Download the SLS7AB.M32325A (July 2023) or newer software file from the Ride Command Site:

- The downloaded file does not run or need to be opened on your computer, it only needs to be copied to a USB drive.
- Save the update file to a 1gb or larger removable USB drive. FAT32 or exFAT format is supported. The download will not succeed if the drive is not properly formatted or is not large enough for the map package.
- Plug the USB drive into your vehicle’s USB port below the display and turn on the display.
SOFTWARE UPDATE
- Press the START/STOP button to power the vehicle on.
- On the display screen, press the Slingshot logo at the top of the screen.
- Press ALL SETTINGS.
- Press GENERAL from the upper left-hand side of the screen.
- Scroll to UPDATE SOFTWARE.
- Select the file you want to install.
NOTICE
“Newest” will be automatically displayed next to the newest version detected on the USB drive.

Once selected, the display will reboot and install the software.

What is the purpose of the T-23-03 Safety Recall?
Polaris
has determined that on Model Year 2020-2023 Slingshot vehicles updated with Ride Command software SLS7AB.M32304A (released April 2023), after shifting out of reverse, the rear camera image may freeze and the rear camera image may not be displayed if shifted to reverse again.
Polaris
is currently evaluating a repair procedure for this concern and will provide an update to dealers in the coming days. Dealers should stop updating vehicles with the affected software and delete it from any USB drives or computers.
What make & model year is included in this Stop Sale?
All Model Year 2020-2023 Slingshot
What software version is affected?
Software version SLS7AB.M32304A (released April 2023) should not be used. Dealers should delete the file from their computers or any USB Drives used for updates.
Why are S and S Tech models on the Stop Sale?
Polaris
is releasing a Stop Sale on all units including those not factory equipped as they could have an accessory Ride Command and affected software.
Is every model year 2020-2023 Slingshot vehicle affected?
Yes, all models are affected.

How can a dealer see which unregistered units in inventory are impacted by this?
- Login to the dealer website (DEX).
- Locate the ‘Service and Warranty’ dropdown, click on STOP Site.
- On the left-hand side of the page, under ‘STOP Site Links,’ click on ‘Service Communications’.
- Locate the link for the recall of interest and click on the ‘All VINs’ link located on the right.
- The ‘All VINs’ page will display all affected VINs within your dealership’s inventory.
NOTE: Unit Inquiry can always be used to check an individual VIN.
Is this a STOP SALE and a STOP RIDE?
This is a STOP SALE. All impacted units, new and used, in dealer inventory cannot be retailed until the inspection and/or repair are performed.
What dealers CAN do prior to performing the procedure:
- Can display impacted products.
- Can quote new products.
- Can accept deposits from consumers as a reservation for a future sale.
- Can utilize PCDX to begin setup and PDI
- Can, and should, warranty register impacted product that was delivered to consumers prior to the release of the stop sale to ensure Polaris
has accurate records and can notify the customer if required – see the last page of this FAQ for instructions and guidelines.
What dealers CANNOT do prior to performing the procedure:
- Cannot process or complete a sale.
- Cannot deliver newly impacted products to consumers.
- Cannot allow a consumer to purchase and take an affected product.
- Cannot warranty register an affected product (unless delivered to the consumer prior to the release of the stop sale).
- Cannot hold customers’ vehicles in service against their will.
Will Polaris
notify consumers?
Polaris
will notify consumers by mail and email following the release of the recall.
Should dealers notify consumers?
When repair details are available, Polaris
will notify consumers by letter (and email if available) immediately and follow-up with additional repair plans. At that time, dealers should also contact owners of affected VINs / PINs to inform them of this announcement.
How does a dealer warranty register a unit that a customer has paid for AND that is in the customer’s possession PRIOR to the STOP SALE announcement?
The warranty registration capability is disabled for all units affected by the stop sale. If the unit has not been paid for, or if the unit has not yet been delivered to the customer, you should retrieve or hold the unit until repairs have been completed.
In the event that a warranty registration must be completed, please submit an Ask Polaris
case using Sales Question > Wholegoods Question and include the following:
- Completed PCDX Customer Information and Customer Delivery form
- Sales invoices: Paper & DMS
- Copies of form of payment document or payment check
- Copies of purchaser’s identification
- Copies of the state registration forms unless the registration was VERY recent and this has not yet been obtained
- The promo selection for the unit (Program Number, Rebate Amount, Promotional Financing, etc.) Salesperson’s First Name and Last Name and My Polaris
Rewards Username to award points or spiffs.
Warranty Registrations that are received and processed by Polaris
more than three (3) days after the date of the retail delivery of the unit to the customer will not qualify for any financial incentives and may be assessed a $300 late fee.

Chronology :
In May 2023, during testing on Model Year 2024 Slingshot pre-production units, Polaris
observed that after shifting out of reverse, the rear camera image may freeze and may not be displayed if shifted to reverse again.
Thereafter, Polaris
initiated an investigation, which included testing performed internally on Slingshot production units with the Ride Command software SLS7AB.M32304A update.
On June 27, 2023, Polaris
’ Executive Review Committee determined that on Model Year 2020-2023 Slingshot vehicles updated with Ride Command software SLS7AB.M32304A (released April 2023), after shifting out of reverse, the rear camera image may freeze and the rear camera image may not be displayed if shifted to reverse again. A rear camera with a deactivated image can reduce the driver’s rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash and risk of serious injury.
No incidents have been identified on Model Year 2020-2023 Slingshot vehicles related to the reported concern.

No incidents have been identified on Model Year 2020-2023 Slingshot vehicles related to the reported concern. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : An updated version of Ride Command software (SLS7AB.M32325A) remedies the non-compliance outlined in this report and will be made available to dealers and consumers. Polaris will inform dealers of the noncompliance and provide instructions to inspect and update the Ride Command software as necessary. Upon NHTSA review and approval, consumers will be provided instructions on how to verify the software installed on their vehicles and how to update the software if required. Consumers will also have the option of bringing their vehicle to a dealer for inspection and/or update at no cost to consumers.
