Forest River
, Inc. (Forest River
) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Prism Class C motorhomes. The furnace may overheat and cause a crack in the burn chamber, which can allow carbon monoxide to enter the cabin.
Remedy
Dealers will install the correct cold air return, grill, and heating ducts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 6, 2024. Owners may contact Forest River
Customer Service at 1-574-825-8602. Forest River

Concern:
The furnace may short cycle due to not having the appropriate amount of square inches of cold air return and have an inconsistent number and size of heat ducts installed to the furnace.
Turn off LP Gas at LPG Tank(s). Disconnect the vehicles’ battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power. Block any tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.

REMEDY:
STEP 1: LOCATE THE FURNACE COLD AIR RETURN (PANEL/WOOD INSERT WITH 14 LOUVERS, NEAR THE FLOOR);
- REMOVE AND SET ASIDE THE FOUR SCREWS;
- DESTROY THIS COLD AIR RETURN;
STEP 2: REMOVE 2” ROTAIR & CLAMP LOCATED IN THE BATHROOM;
- REMOVE AND SET ASIDE THE SCREWS HOLDING THE ROTAIR TO THE BATHROOM WALL
STEP 3: REMOVE 2” COLLAR FROM THE FURNACE;
STEP 4: INSTALL 4” COLLAR TO THE FURNACE IN WHERE THE 2” COLLAR WAS;
- USING FLANGE TABS, SPIN THE COLLAR INTO LOCKED POSITION
STEP 5: CONNECT 4” FURNACE DUCT TO 4” ROTAIR USING A 4” CLAMP;
STEP 6: ROUTE THE 4” FURNACE DUCT BACK TO THE FURNACE FOLLOWING THE OLD 2” FURNACE DUCT;
STEP 7: CONNECT THE 4” FURNACE DUCT TO THE 4” COLLAR (INSTALLED AT STEP 4) ONTO THE FURNACE USING A 4” CLAMP;
STEP 8: RESECURE THE NEW 4” ROTAIR TO THE BATHROOM WALL USING THE SAME SCREWS AND HOLES;
STEP 9: INSTALL THE NEW COLD AIR RETURN USING THE FOUR SCREWS, IN THE SAME SCREW HOLES OF THE CABINET;
STEP 10: CLEAN AREA OF DEBRIS;
NOTICE: IT MAY BE NECASSORY TO ROUT THE FURNACE DUCTING THROUGH/AROUND PLUMBING. ENSURE THAT THE 4” FURNACE DUCT DOES NOT BECOME “EGG SHAPED” OR DEFORMED. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE AIR HAVE THE PROPER DISCARGE.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also sent in accordance with the requirements of the United States’ National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest River
has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2023-2024 Coachmen Prism 24DS and 24FS Class C Motorhome Recreational Vehicles. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.
DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE:
The furnace may short cycle due to not having the appropriate amount of square inches of cold air return, and an inconsistent number and size of heat ducts installed to the furnace.
EVALUATION OF RISK:
If the furnace continues to short cycle, it may overheat and cause a puncture in the burn chamber, allowing carbon monoxide poisoning. This condition may lead to personal injury or death.
WHAT IS FOREST RIVER
AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?
Forest River
is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River
dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest River
completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. The remedy will include replacement of the cold air return and the ducting for the furnace. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River
of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy. You may also visit www.forestriverinc.com for dealer locations.
HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?
The estimated time of repair is 1.0 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.
WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?
If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized.
Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for within the scope of this defect under recall.

On January 24, 2024, the manufacturing plant was reviewing the installation of the furnace cold air return and number of heat ducts being used due to an internal Pre-Delivery Inspection (“PDI”) inspection.
On January 25, 2024, the manufacturing plant contacted Forest River
’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) and a research item was opened.
On January 26, 2024, Forest River
’s Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall. A Stop Sale Notice will be issued immediately following the filing of this recall.
On January 31, 2024, Forest River
amended the recall to reflect the remedy.

has decided that a safety defect exists in certain 2023-2024 Coachmen Class C Motorhome Recreational Vehicles. Forest River
is recalling the defect model(s) to ensure the safety of our future retail consumers and your dealership. Forest River
is issuing a Stop Sale Notice effective immediately.
Please access your Home Page on Dealer Connect to verify if your Dealership has units in stock that are subject to this recall. Enter the Service Campaign number referenced above in the “Campaign Search” field, click on the “Campaign ID Number”. Next, select “MY VINS”. Not all Dealers have units in stock that are affected by this recall.

This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.

has decided that a safety defect exists in certain 2023-2024 Coachmen Prism 24DS and 24FS Class C Motorhome Recreational Vehicles. Forest River

DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE:
The furnace may short cycle due to not having the appropriate amount of square inches of cold air return, and an inconsistent number and size of heat ducts installed to the furnace.
EVALUATION OF RISK:
If the furnace continues to short cycle, it may overheat and cause a puncture in the burn chamber, allowing carbon monoxide poisoning. This condition may lead to personal injury or death.

If the remedy needs to be performed on an out of warranty 2023-2024 Coachmen Prism Class C Motorhome in which the VIN falls under as stated in the identified VIN listing, your dealership is entitled to the reimbursement as stated above by filing a claim using the indicated repair code(s).
Notice:
In no manner shall a Forest River
Product Owner or Coachmen Product Owner be charged any fee(s) for scheduling, conduction or completion of the recall. Additionally, all dealership(s) that are Forest River
and/or Coachmen dealership(s) are Federally Mandated to perform the recall once presented with this recall whether by the Owner or Dealership receipt of this letter, without denial of service to the Owner. Lastly, denial of a remedy for this recall is a Federal Violation punishable by law resulting substantial fines and/or civil penalties.

has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2023-2024 Coachmen Prism 24DS and 24FS Class C Motorhome Recreational Vehicles. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.

is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River
dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest River
completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. The remedy will include replacement of the cold air return and the ducting for the furnace. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River
of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy. You may also visit www.forestriverinc.com for dealer locations.
HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?
The estimated time of repair is 1.0 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.
WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?
If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized.
Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for within the scope of this defect under recall.
