Descriptive Information : Weldon notified Spencer of the recall on 11/27/23, however, the correct person was not notified. It was not until NHTSA reached out regarding this recall that we began to dive into this. Unfortunately, we had some issues getting logged into our account due to an issue with login.gov. This has now been resolved and we are filing our recall information. There were a total of eight vehicles that were affected by this recall. Seven out of the eight were to one customer so it made the notification process fairly easy. Weldon notified all of our affected customers with owner’s letters on 1/24/24. We have not received any complaints or warranty claims from our customers.

The short circuit protection may not function properly. In the case of a short circuit in the wiring or the connected load, overheating of the wiring or the load may occur, and depending on how the product is installed in the vehicle.

Description of Remedy Program : All the affected nodes installed can be updated with one connection to the
V-MUX network, without accessing the individual nodes. The design files and functionality are not affected. A Weldon service app and the downloader kit is utilized to make the firmware update. This update is estimated to take 5 minutes and can be completed when the vehicle is in PM without other changes. Weldon will provide the update application to fleet owners and authorized service centers to install the firmware update along with instructions. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : An update to the firmware eliminates the defect. Once the defect was discovered, Weldon addressed the issue in production.
