Chronology :
05-19-23: Safety and Compliance was notified by engineering that a drawing issue was identified which overrepresented the volume of certain air tanks and may result in incorrect air tank volume calculations per vehicle. No affected vehicles in field identified to have insufficient air volume due to the drawing issue, but additional vehicles showed insufficient air volume with unknown root cause. Investigation opened.
06-06-23: Current estimated affected population is 71 vehicles. Investigation and backlog search continues.
06-15-23: Investigation ongoing.
02-14-24: Investigation summarized for Safety Committee Review.
02-16-24: Safety Committee meeting held. The Safety Committee concurs that a regulatory noncompliance exists and that the affected population shall be recalled.
02-19-24: Final corrective action implemented. Backlog search was completed and did not identify any additional vehicles to include in the affected population.
As of February 16, 2024, PACCAR
received zero warranty claims and zero reports about the trucks in the field that may be related to the issue. Zero reports of deaths or injuries have been received.
