Rivian has determined that on certain model year 2023 and 2024 R1T, R1S,
and EDV vehicles the headlamps are aimed slightly too low and do not meet
current production specifications or fulfill the requirements of FMVSS 108
(Lamp, reflective devices and associated equipment – §571.108 S10.14.6).

Chronology :
On February 7, 2024, the Rivian vehicle manufacturing team identified a potential discrepancy in aiming
between headlamp alignment stations and a manufacturing investigation began to identify the root cause and
corrective actions.
From February 7, 2024, to May 17, 2024, Rivian conducted the investigation and identified the potentially
affected vehicles.
On May 17, 2024, Rivian determined that a potential noncompliance to FMVSS 108, Lamps, reflective devices,
and assoc. equipment cannot be ruled out.
As of the date of this filing, Rivian is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue in any market.
Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Rivian will check the headlamp adjustment on the affected vehicles and
correct it, if necessary.
Rivian is committed to reimbursing owners for previous out-of-pocket
repairs according to the plan submitted to the agency on May 10, 2022;
however, systems affected by this recall are covered under Rivian’s new
vehicle limited warranties. Rivian only began releasing vehicles to
customers at the end of 2021. As no owners of these vehicles would have
reached the end of the warranty period and therefore not incurred
expenses for the warranted repair as a result of this condition, no
notification regarding reimbursement under section 577.11 is necessary.
Rivian has a policy and practice of reimbursing owners who have paid for
a repair that subsequently becomes the subject of a field action. To ensure
consistency, Rivian, as part of the owner letter, will request that customers
send the original receipt and/or other adequate proof of payment to the
company for confirmation of the expense.
How Remedy Component Differs
from Recalled Component :
This recall is not related to a part defect, but rather an assembly issue. The
remedy is to adjust the aim of the headlamps, if necessary.

Description of Recall Schedule : We will mail notifications on or before July 06, 2024.
As a direct-to consumer manufacturer, Rivian owns and operates all of
the Company’s sales and service operations. As all “dealers” are Rivian
owned entities, notification will be through internal means to our
licensed store and service operations addressing this recall on or before
the date set forth in this response.
