Descriptive Information : Using various manufacturing documents and drawings, as well as personnel records, research was conducted to determine the population of LPSDT units affected by the missing or misplaced frame gusset. The missing or misplaced frame gusset is unique to the LPSDT. 2 units are affected by this recall.

Description of the Defect : During manufacturing, frame gussets may not have been placed correctly, resulting in reduced frame strength, increasing risk of a crack to develop. This crack can extend into the frame which can result in severe damage to the vacuum excavator. If not addressed the frame can bend and/or distort resulting in unpredictable vehicle handling.

05/09/2024-Vermeer MV Solutions was notified of a potential issue on three units. 05/17/2024- Product Safety was made aware of the issue.
05/23/2024- Engineering began failure analysis based on photos and preliminary field report. 05/31/2024- Engineering, service, and product safety met to review engineering analysis. A determination was made that a campaign would occur.
06/03/2024-Vermeer inspected the three units and found missing or misplaced frame gussets and frame cracks on two of the three units. The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 24V-411

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Vermeer will prepare field remedy kits which will include the necessary
parts and instructions to resolve safety issues. These field remedy kits will be provided to authorized Vermeer dealers to install. Upon installation and receipt of field remedy kit warranty claim, dealers will be reimbursed for the parts and labor. Owners will be notified of the potential safety risk and available field remedy kit by letter according to the product database records maintained by Vermeer Corporation. Vermeer Corporation pays for all parts and labor for product safety recalls regardless of whether the machine is still covered by its one-year standard limited warranty or whether the warranty has expired. Vermeer Corporation will reimburse a retail customer/machine owner when the owner has paid for a repair prior to the product safety alert field campaign. Owner must provide proof of repair. For an owner to obtain reimbursement, owner must inquire with an authorized, independent Vermeer dealer. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The remedy component will include the frame and associated parts. Recall condition was corrected in production on 06/03/2024. Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Dealer notification will begin 07/18/2024 by email with list of affected
machines in their area of responsibility. Owner notification letters will be sent 08/01/2024 with translated letters where necessary for their affected units.
