Summary
North Central Emergency Vehicles (North Central) is recalling one 2021 Ford
E-450 vehicle equipped with Weldon 8X16 Input-Output nodes. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the node may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.
Remedy
Weldon will update the firmware, free of charge. The owner notification letter is expected to be mailed June 2024. Owners may contact Akron Brass customer service at 1-800-228-1161 or North Central customer service at 1-320-395-2529.

It was determined that the firmware in the node needs to be updated or the node replaced with the updated firmware. Recalled products have a different firmware version than those not in the recall. We have used 1 of these nodes in remounts between March 10 2020 and January 27, 2024. The effected vehicle is a 2021 Ford E450.

How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Firmware version number on the device determined the range of devices that shall be recalled by Weldon. Version 1.00-1.02 to be recalled. A report on the ambulance remounts we produced from the date of the Weldon recall start date until January 27, 2024 was run and those remountes were searched on a report for the recalled part number which showed one truck affected out of a potential of 41 trucks.
