Summary
Spartan Fire
, LLC (Spartan) is recalling one 2018 Gladiator vehicle equipped with Code 3
7×9 Stop-Tail-Turn Reverse All-in-One LED stop, tail, turn, and reverse lights. The lights may be too bright, exceeding the maximum light output allowed which may adversely affect the vision of drivers. As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”
Remedy
Spartan will notify the owner and instruct them to contact Code 3
to obtain a filter kit (part number CZ0199), free of charge. The recall began January 13, 2021. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-866-582-2376. Spartan’s number for this recall is 20-10.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Spartan Fire
, LLC has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in a model year 2018 Gladiator model emergency response chassis cab.
Please note: The Vehicle Identification Number that maybe affected by this recall is located at the top of this letter.
What is the defect?
Vehicles included in this recall have All-In-One Stop/Tail/Turn/Reverse LED lamps that are being recalled by their manufacturer, Code 3
. According to the lamp manufacturer, the subject lamps exceed the maximum permissible candela levels specified in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 at certain test points. The increased photometric intensity does not comply with the requirements of FMVSS108 and may adversely affect the vision of following drivers, which could lead to a crash.
Corrective Action:
Code 3
is providing a filter kit (Part No. CZ0199) to be installed. The kit will ensure that the lamps perform within the permissible photometric intensity ranges. The Owner of the vehicle can install the filter kit or can contact their Spartan Fire
Dealer and a technician will install the filter kit for them. There is no cost to the vehicle owner for the recall remedy.
Labor Time:
Estimated time for the remedy is 0.5 hours.

Leased Vehicles:
The lessor must notify the lessee by first class mail within ten (10) days from receipt of their owner notification letter from the manufacturer; both for the initial notification and all subsequent notifications.
Reimbursement:
If you had this repair performed before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. For more information contact Spartan at 1‐800‐867-6478.
