Daimler Trucks
North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022 Thomas Built Buses Minotour. The positive battery cable terminals may contact a fuse block assembly attachment post and cause an electrical short circuit.
Remedy
GM will notify owners, and GM dealers will remove a portion of the anti-rotation tab on both positive battery cable terminals near the fuse block assembly attachments, free of charge. The recall began on May 3, 2021. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and GMC
customer service at 1-800-462-8782. DTNA’s number for this recall is FL885.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
General Motors
has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2021 model year Chevrolet
Express and GMC
Savanna vehicles equipped with 6.6L gas engines. As a result, GM is conducting a safety recall. We apologize for this inconvenience. However, we are concerned about your safety and continued satisfaction with our products.
I M P O R T A N T
- Your vehicle is involved in GM safety recall N202325161.
- Schedule an appointment with your GM dealer.
- This service will be performed for you at no charge.
- Your vehicle was repaired previously for this condition under a Technical Service bulletin. It is included in this safety recall to ensure the positive battery cable anti-rotation trim length was trimmed properly when the procedure in the bulletin was performed.
Why is your vehicle being recalled?
In certain circumstances, anti-rotation tabs on the positive battery cable terminals may come into contact with a fuse block assembly attachment post, causing a short circuit. Clearance between the positive battery cable anti-rotation tab and the fuse attachment posts is small enough to allow contact in certain situations. Drivers may get a low battery voltage warning or experience a dead battery. A short-circuit of a positive battery cable to a fuse attachment post can cause battery drain or may lead to an underhood fire.
What will we do?
Your GM dealer will inspect your vehicle and remove a portion of the anti-rotation tab on both positive battery cable terminals near the engine compartment fuse block assembly attachments. A very small percentage of vehicles may have had too much of the tab removed during prior servicing. If this is the case for your vehicle, the battery cable will be replaced. This service will be performed for you at no charge. Because of service scheduling requirements, it is likely that your dealer will need your vehicle longer than the actual service correction time of approximately 50 minutes.
What should you do?
You should contact your GM dealer to arrange a service appointment as soon as possible.
It is recommended that the vehicle be parked outside and not in a garage or other structure until it is repaired.

Per GM recall 21V-189, GM identified vehicles that may contain a defective positive battery cable terminal. GM states in these vehicles “anti-rotation tabs on the positive battery cable terminals may come into contact with a fuse block assembly attachment post, causing a short circuit.”

Per GM recall 21V-189: “A shot-circuit of a positive battery cable to a fuse attachment post can cause battery drain or may lead to an underhood fire”

Vehicles identified in GM’s recall 21V-189.
Chronology of Defect / Noncompliance Determination
Provide the chronology of events leading up to the defect decision or test data for the noncompliance decision.:
Late March 2021, GM notified Thomas Built Buses (TBB) of a recall and provided a VIN list of chassis cabs that were at TBB. TBB placed a hold on the identified VINS per GM’s instructions. DTNA requested information regarding the filing and requested further information to determine if additional DTNA vehicles are affected. DTNA opened an investigation to determine potential field exposure. DTNA estimated the effected field population based on the information provided in GM recall 21V-189. April 9th, 202021 DTNA with an abundance of caution, decided to conduct a voluntary recall on the GM identified vehicles.

Describe the defect/noncompliance remedy program, including the manufacture’s plan for reimbursement.
GM will be responsible handling all aspects of this recall. GM dealers remove a portion of the anti-rotation tab on both positive battery cable terminals near the engine compartment fuse block assembly attachments. Repairs will be performed by GM authorized service facilities. Customer notification will be done by GM using first class mail using GM records to determine the customers affected. GM will provide quarterly reports.
