Bentonville, AR 72716-0955

RE:  SAF-HOLLAND Safety Recall 22E-014

Dear Mr. Stafford:

SAF-HOLLAND has decided that a safety defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain axle assemblies, P/N 1004300026950, AXLE ASSY DRESSED, used in it’s ULX40 suspensions between 01JAN21 and 16NOV21 01JAN21 and 16NOV21. The safety defect that is the basis for our Safety Recall is the same defect on the same axles that was the basis for Safety Recall 21V-943, initiated by Great DaneeBay logo Limited Partnership on 07DEC21 for defective axles that were installed as original equipment on Champion or Everest Trailers manufactured by Great DaneeBay logo Limited Partnership and sold to Walmart.

To remedy this safety defect, a Walmart Hub Grease Inspection Campaign – SAF-HOLLAND has been underway at various Walmart service locations since 10DEC21. The campaign called for inspecting the lubricant level in suspect axles and then, depending on the results of the inspection, 1) replenishment of the lubricant in the axle, 2) replacement of the wheel end on the axle or 3) replacement of the complete axle assembly.  The same procedure is to be followed to implement this Safety Recall, 22E-014, initiated by SAF-HOLLAND at this time.

To implement Safety Recall 22E-014, you are required to inspect the axle wheel ends by following the instructions in Attachment A, SAF-HOLLAND service bulletin, XL-AS20117SB-en-US.  Reimbursement for the parts and labor costs associated with implementing the Safety Recall will be in accordance with SAF-HOLLAND’s usual warranty procedure. The level of reimbursement will vary based on the remedy that is required to be implemented. Labor reimbursement, in hours, will be paid at the local repair shop’s rate/hour. Replacement parts that may be required, based on the results of following the steps in service bulletin XL-AS20117SB-en-US, will be provided by SAFHOLLAND at no charge.
