Summary
Daimler Trucks
North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2023 Western Star
4900 trucks. The inversion valve air lines may have been incorrectly installed, potentially reducing brake performance.
Remedy
All vehicles have been remedied, therefore no owner notification letters are necessary. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA’s number for this recall is FL-924.

All vehicles within this recall campaign have been repaired prior to the publication of a Dealer’s Bulletin or Owner Notification. All impacted serial numbers were inspected/repaired from 3/24/2022 – 4/13/2022.
Chronology :
On March 17, 2022, DTNA compliance was notified by the manufacturing facility regarding the inversion valve plumbing quality spill within a contained population. On March 23, 2022, as soon as DTNA had sufficient information from its investigation, and out of abundance of caution, DTNA decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall on certain WST 4900 vehicles built within the above mentioned manufacturing date range, equipped with a certain chassis frame mounted inversion valve.

On vehicles with the replacement valve, production operators at the manufacturing facility may have been interchanging the brake airline that connects the control port with the one that connects the balance port.
