Dometic Corporation has issued NHTSA Recall 22E021 for a series of their P18022 model propane cooktops. The burner control valve, mated directly to the control knob via the valve stem, may leak propane gas. This gas will leak directly into the recessed portion of the cooktop, where the knobs and ignitor are located, and may be ignited by the active burners. This ignition will result in a small pilot style flame directly at the burner control knob and increase the risk of fire.
The Corrective Action requires that you inspect your Roadtrek vehicle to identify the serial number of the cooktop and then compare the serial number to the attached list of defective product provided by Dometic. Instructions to locate the serial number of your cooktop is enclosed. If you identify that your serial number is on the list of defective product, you are to fill out the attached 22E021 Cooktop Top Recall Replacement Request Form and submit it directly to Dometic by email to recall.cooktop[email protected]. Dometic will replace all defective cooktops at no charge. Dometic will direct you to their closest dealer where the Installation of a replacement cooktop will be done at no cost to you. The replacement will take approximately 1 hour.
If you had this repair performed before you received this letter you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. For more information, please contact, Roadtrek Inc., at 1-888-762-3873.
Federal regulations require that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days. If you no longer own the vehicle, please inform Roadtrek Inc. of the new owner online at [email protected].
